Abstract:
An on-board electron beam accelerator with a capacitance storage is described. The accelerator is thought to be the most suitable for pulse injection. Such an accelerator conforms to the principles of the resource and energy saving technology. The accelerator has many important features, it provides many unique possibilities to a physicist. The main features of this accelerator type are as follows:
—   low  power  of  the  accelerator  on-board  supply  as  against traditional direct supply systems;
—  small general mass and volume of the accelerator in comparison with traditional direct supply systems;
—  low cost of the whole device;
—  possibility to inject pulses with absolutely smooth vertices;
—  flexible conjugation of electron accelerator characteristics with the scientific tasks of an experiment and the present-day component types.

Many of these features are very important now from the economic reasons, especially in rocket or satellite experiments. The main processes in the accelerator are considered and the basic correlations of accelerator parameters are given. These correlations may be used for engineering calculations. The accelerator performance and the peculiarities of operation in typical experimental conditions will be published in detail elsewhere.
