Abstract:
The onboard accelerator with the capacitance storage is flexible in the adjustment of main accelerator performances to the scientific tasks of an experiment. Such an accelerator is able to conform to the principles of the resource and energy saving technology. It has also many unique features which are very important just for a physicist-investigator. In order to reach higher performances of this accelerator, it is necessary not only to take into account special requirements, but also to set the optimal operating condition. Some most general peculiarities of several units of the onboard electron beam accelerator with the capacitance storage are briefly described from the point of view of physicist-investigator. Two versions of the accelerator scheme and the differences between them are considered. Special capabilities and the most appropriate application field of the accelerator are pointed out. The problem of operating conditions can also arise when several accelerator units are integrated into a single device. For this reason three main characteristic operating conditions of the electron beam accelerator with the capacitance storage are considered. There are two main criteria in the estimation of operating conditions: 1) the least power loss on the regulating lamp anode during electron injections and 2) the minimal discharge of the capacitance storage during a short-circuit or a high voltage avalanche breakdown between the anode and the cathode of the electron gun. The optimal operating mode in any general case can be chosen taking into account this qualitative consideration
