Abstract:
The main direction of scientific researches of Ukrainian Antarctic Station (UAS) named «Academician Vernadsky» is electromagnetic monitoring of the system «Lithosphere – Atmosphere – Ionosphere – Magnetosphere» (LAIM). Electromagnetic instrumentation at UAS and its main parameters and operation mode are described. New original scientific results giving more light to the interactions in LAIM system are discussed and corresponding physical models are shortly described. The importance of UAS electromagnetic polygon as ground support of future Ukrainian space missions is underlined and main problems to be solved to use UAS in this role more efficiently are formulated.
