Influence of the upper atmosphere inhomogeneity on acoustic gravity wave propagation

The influence of chemical composition of the upper atmosphere on the propagation of acoustic-gravity waves is investigated. It is shown that taking into account multi-component composition of the atmosphere allows one to explain the wave features observed from satellites, namely, selected horizontal wavelength and frequency. It is established that the atmosphere composition inhomogeneity can lead to the waveguide propagation of acoustic-gravity waves, even in the absence of a vertical temperature gradient
