Abstract: 

The importance of transparency and confidence-building measures in outer space is noted. We present information on the study of the transparency and confidence-building measures in outer space. The work of the UN Group of Governmental Experts on Transparency and Confidence-Building Measures in Outer Space Activities and the result of this work are mentioned. The basic characteristics of transparency and confidence-building measures in outer space activities are considered. Their main categories and some measures applied by Ukraine in performing its outer space activities are presented. Current international initiatives related to transparency and confidence-building measures in outer space are listed. The draft International Code of Conduct for Outer Space Activities which was developed by the European Union and has been discussed by the international community since 2008 is proposed for consideration.
