Abstract: 
We present the results of processing and analysis of middleresolution multispectral satellite images to assess the dynamics and consequences of illegal amber extraction in Ukraine. The study has revealed a significant damage to the soil cover on the territory of forests and fields as a result of a long-term intense amber mining on the selected monitoring site.
